OpenGroupware Legacy

OpenGroupware, now Opengroupware Legacy, is the parent of the OpenGroupware constellation of projects.  OpenGroupware Legacy was released as open source in 2003, and had already been a commercial product for almost a decade.  OpenGroupware Legacy is a very full featured and stable product.  However the underpinnings of the project: Objective-C, SOPE, and GNUstep are all old technologies that are now well out of the mainstream.  This hindered packaging and further development;  distributions were unwilling to take on an entire platform stack for a single application, developers found documentation [of SOPE and GNUstep] desperately lacking, and the most sophisticated tool-chains were focused on other platforms [Java, .NET, Python, etc...].  The heir apparent to OpenGroupware Legacy is OpenGroupware Coils.

However, this is not meant to imply that OpenGroupware Legacy is "dead".  It still provides a feature-rich groupware solutions - and it is [currently] the only member of the OpenGroupware family to provide an end-user web interface (known as WebUI).  And it is parallel installable with the more current / active projects like OpenGroupware Coils and OGo/J.
